A range of theoretical, methodological, and ethical challenges take place when we engage in research on autocratization and democracy. Focusing on the Latin America scenario, while also considering comparative dialogues with countries all over the world in different stages of autocratization, the conference will contribute to comparative analyses of the dynamics of democracy and autocratization in the region, including discussions on the role of courts, police violence, contestations over land, indigenous rights, sexual and reproductive right and climate and environmental politics.
The #BeExSampa conference is modelled on the Bergen Exchanges on Law & Social Transformation, being part of the Centre on Law & Social Transformation – LawTransform (UiB/CMI) project Effects of Rights & Law, supported by the Research Council of Norway and the Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills.
