Scholarly presentations by Professor Mariléa de Andrade and Professor José Maurício Arruti of the Universidade Estadual de Campinas will animate a lively discussion on the challenges and successes of the Quilombo movement following the 1988 Constitution's guarantee of land rights.

This event is a co-sponsorship by the Center for Brazilian Studies and ILAS at Columbia University, the Center for Latin American Studies at NYU, and the Consulate General of Brazil.
